It is quite the
compliment to be asked to participate in a kitchen project where
function of the kitchen needs to be considerate of priceless works
of art. It became quite a challenge to incorporate all the requested
elements to reflect the beauty of each piece, whether it was an
appliance, sculpture or furniture piece. The collection of Andy
Warhol originals that hang over the fireplace adds to the strength
of this uniquely balanced residence, showing how form and function
compliment fine art.
As the process
proceeded and the appliance selections became necessary, it was only
natural to work with the Subzero/Wolf line of products. The
appliances chosen were the perfect compliment to reflect fine design
and function required for this residence. The beauty of the
stainless steel doors of the Subzero refrigerator helped to equalize
the strong hood piece in the room, and the large 48" duel fuel
range. The lighting that was selected in the space was essential to
cascade light down the face of the cabinetry, as well as play with
reflective qualities of the stainless steel back splash and wire
glass panels. The reflective quality of the stainless steel needed a
dark chocolate alder selection of cabinetry to quiet the soul and
soften the slate tile floors.
When one works with fine objects of art and function one can only
choose appliances that will balance the integrity of the residence.
